"This product stops bleeding cold. Right Now. Note- it is expensive and a little messy, so don't go using it for everyday cuts, those where the bleeding is easily controlled by pressure. But this could very well save a life, especially out in the field.
Get one of the large packs and keep it at home in your 1st Aid kit, and one of the smaller packs to carry in your beltpouch or daypack, along with a few Band-Aids and the usual stuff.
Most first aid kits do not contain this product as it is too expensive, so you'll have to add it yourself. What is handy with this product is that you can apply it to yourself in a pinch."
So, you'd think I'd rate a kit with Quikclot with *****. However, I can't quite. See, other than the Quikclot, this is just an ordinary handy little 1st aid kit.

A decent list, but other than the Quikclot, hardly unique.
So, it would be quite a bit cheaper to just take your already existing 1st Aid kit and just throw in the Quikclot, which runs $10-$15.
But, this is still a good kit, and fairly complete even though quite compact. If you don't already have a small kit, this is not a bad choice.

(More customer reviews)Great little dressing, cheap, and my preference for home first aid kits or pre-hospital...but not for backcountry.
For home use nothing beats these. Easy to use, just cram one on a wound, two if it's big, wrap the ends and tie in place. Most first patch dressings are done dirty, just to stop the bleeding. These go right over clothes, go on without tape, go on one handed and will fit anywhere.)
Small size, soft packaging, good dressing and more versatile than a kerlix.
Not for backpacking though
But... unrolling it in the mud, dirt etc it's going to flop all over, little elastic means it's a s-rolled kerlix that needs reinforcement or ACE to pressure it, the lack of a water and snag proof outer cover means every twig and berry in the woods will be stuck to it in minutes.
If your not grizzly Adams and just want a good trauma dressing thats cheaper than and less complicated than a millitary dressing this is for you!

(More customer reviews)In answer to the reviewer below, the original Quik Clot formula would burn, and military and civilian medics went to other types of clotters. But this is a REFORMULATED product, that does not burn. Use with confidence. I have this in all my vehicles and home first aid kits. Other brands work too, but don't fear the sport cloths by Quik Clot.

(More customer reviews)When a fellow backpacker slipped while carrying his pack saw, he cut his upper thigh pretty badly. Although no major vessels were involved, the wound bled profusely. This QuikClot product was applied to the wound with direct pressure and then bound in place. While the wound was not extraordinarily severe, the injured man was quite upset by the amount of blood he appeared to be losing prior to application of the dressing. Once the QuikClot product was in place and a thick sterile pad secured over it, only a small amount of blood was visible. This added tremendously to reassure the injured man that he was not in great danger from bleeding. Others in our party assisted the man back to the trail head and he was taken to a local hospital where the laceration was sutured.
This product is an absolute 'must have' item in any aid kit for people working or enjoying the out of doors in locations distant from immediate medical care. This order was a replacement for the product I used. As an aside recommendation, QuikClot Sport is very effective when used in conjunction with an 'Israeli-style' combat dressing (easily applied by one person or the injured victim).
