This little device has been an eye opener and I am glad to have it. My only negative is that the instructions say that you must have it recalibrated every six to twelve months and I don't yet know where and how to do that. Still seems worth it to me!

Also determine what at what BAC memory gets spotty (what point is there exceeding that?). Fun to call out big talkers who don't suspect you are packing a lie detector of sorts. Also useful to get people off your back who think you are too drunk to drive.

Cons
Innaccurate if sips have been taken within 10 minutes or so. True for all breathalyzers. Drunk idiots have tough time getting it through their heads
Warm up/calibration time ~45 sec. Another let down at parties but perhaps key to accuracy
Would be nice if it was more pocket sized
Chirps at you alarm clock style if above .08 "I know I'm drunk, shut up!"

After time it becomes completely inaccurate and useless. I'm going to switch out the sensor, as the old one is prob needing a change.
It takes foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to calibrate. You will sit there and wait and wait for the numbers to count down before you can test.

(More customer reviews)I actually bought both the Alcohawk Slim Digital and the Alcohawk Pro a year ago for two cars, one for me and my fiancee. Although the Alcohawk Pro is more expensive, over $120.00 vs. $49.00 the difference in the product is enormous.
The Alcohawk pro version works like magic, you really only have to wait about 5 seconds to blow in the tester, and you get your BAC result right away. I have used it many times and haven't had to change the battery so far.
The Alcohawk Slim Digital Tester, on the other hand, takes forever to calibrate once you push the start button. Instead of 60 seconds, you're really waiting over three minutes before you can blow in the mouthpiece. You have to take a very deep breath, and it takes about 10 seconds to see your results. Sometimes you won't even get a result, then you have to wait over two minutes for the device to recalibrate itself, all over again. About three months ago I changed the batteries assuming that it was the reason why it was not turning on properly, but that did not solve the problem. I had to blow in the mouthpiece repeatedly and wait for about 10 minutes, I just gave up.
Bottom Line: If you can afford the Alcohawk Pro which is 3 times more expensive, you will not be disappointed. The cheap price of the Slim tester version makes up for the delayed time and inferior quality of the product.

(More customer reviews)I think this breathalyzer is excellent! The results are right where I expected them to be depending on how much I had to drink. Much better than a DUI!
I have two suggestions for getting an accurate reading:
1. Do not take a deep breath before blowing into the breathalyzer. All that extra air will dilute the alcohol vapor that goes into the analyzer.
2. When blowing into the breathalyzer, try your best to capture the end of your breath. That will give you a much more accurate reading. Think about it . . . it makes sense . . . you would want to measure the alcohol deep in your lungs to get the best results. I've tried it using the first part of my breath one day and got a reading of .056, a minute later, using the "deep lung" air, the reading was .078. Trust me . . . the cops will take the "deep lung" air for the test if you're pulled over.

However, after my fourth beer it read a .00. Obviously it was wrong. Also, the LCD screen fogged at first and then it just plain stopped working correctly. Not the best product - but in the world of electronics, you get what you pay for.

Some friends and I went out to celebrate their anniversary and I thought for sure that when we left the restaurant that we were able to drive home. We all decided to give the bactrack a try and sure enough, we were all around 0.09 which is above the legal limit. We took a cab instead and saw a DWI checkpoint going on a few miles from the restaurant. This baby probably saved us from a DWI and possibly saved our lives. I'll never leave home without it!
