(More customer reviews)These are great, they let you fill them with blood until you have enough for a blood test, and only then commit a blood test strip knowing that you will definitely have enough blood. I would sometimes waste a test strip because I didn't have enough blood or simply feared I hadn't enough blood. Now I can be consistent and save money, as these capilary tubes cost a lot less than blood test strips.

I changed my diet completely and took first check test one month after the diet change and test showed my cholesterol as 229, I took it again two months after my diet change and it showed 149!!!. I couldn't believe that diet change was affecting my cholesterol so much so I went to my doc and asked for a lab test and guess what... my cholesterol was 253!!!.
I have followed the exact instructions that were given in the kit and still the cholesterol levels were off by more than 100 points!, that's insane. This kit doesn't work as they claim.Do not buy, go to lab to get accurate results.

(More customer reviews)This is a great product. I have had consistent results. Reviews that I see for this product which talk about readings being inaccurate may be due to poor technique in many cases. For example, your finger has to be clean and grease free. You also should not be squeezing the blood sample out of your finger as this changes the composition of the blood sample your are squeezing out and can provide inaccurate results (eg. you are also squeezing out oils on the surface of your finger, etc.) You also need enough blood sample to analyze (albiet it is still very small... just a drop). The technique that I use, and I think is easiest, is applying the blood sample directly to the test strip rather than using the enclosed capillary tube, which I find isn't always easy to use.

(More customer reviews)We have owned this device for many years and use it fairly regularly. My boyfriend doesn't like doctors, so it's good to have the CardioChek device for nearly instant home testing whenever we wish. It's great!
The device is about the size of a long pack of cigarettes and is SUPER easy to use. You can buy a variety of test strips for it. We have the total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and Triglycerides tests. From these, you can also calculate your LDL levels quite easily.
You turn on the CardioChek, slide in whichever strip you want to use, and then add in a drop of blood. We have an AutoLancet which is a one-button push pen-like item that easily gets a drop of blood without much pain at all. Then you wait maybe 30 seconds, and the device tells you the exact number.
We haven't had any problems with this system at all. If anything, the problem we have is that I don't bleed easily and my blood refuses to leave my body :) I find that running my hand or foot under warm water for a few minutes helps out. My toes seem to work better than my fingers, and are less sensitive, too.
Highly recommended, we haven't had any problems with this at all in the many years of use.

The 3 readings for cholesterol that I took with this machine were 180, 140 and Low. My true cholesterol reading is around 210. I tried to contact the customer service phone number but it just rings and rings and nobody answers. I tried for a week with no answer. Today a chinese lady with broken english answered the phone and told me the manager will call me back next week. Should I wait that long to throw away this product?

(More customer reviews)I love having this device at home, and being able to test any time I want to, rather then having to make an appointment with the lab and fighting about copay etc.
I test for Cholesterol, HDL and Triglyceride on this unit. I also test for Glucose, but I do that on another system.
The only downside with this system is that you need to make three seperate tests (meaning you have to use three different strips) to get the three values. To not have to prick my fingers three times in a row, I use a depper setting for the pin, so I can still squeeze blood out of the prick for the third test (yes, it hurts!). It takes a total of about 3 minutes or so to get the unit started, setup and through each test, so you have to be patient. It does take some getting used to the first couple of times before you get the hang of applying the blood. That's why I still test glucose on another system that need less blood and where it's easier to apply. Also the test strips for this unit are not really cheap. The application of the blood and the strip price make this a 4-1/2 stars in my mind rather then a full 5 stars.
All in all this is a solid product, and I am very happy about the flexibility it gives me. I can test every couple of weeks now, which gives me the advantage of tying my values to life style changes and food choices.

I simultaneously had bloodwork at the Doctor's office when I did the test.
Except for the total cholesterol, all the other tests were off. The manual states to check for the blue color at the back of the test strips after the test is done. Except for total cholestrol the other test strips did not have a blue color. The test strips which are expensive were bad. I am planning on returning this product
