The pills you get are 47.5mg ferrous sulfate (the elemental iron is much lower in this form). The RDA percentages are similar. The reason is marketing. Some products are marketed to a low supplement dose of 18mg, some are marketed up to a 200mg dose. If you have to take a high specific dose of elemental iron make sure to do the math.
