I just wanted to be able to tell my heart rate accurately without having to wear a strap around my chest and I didn't need to know my gps location and upload it to a computer to track my lap times. Given my simple needs, I didn't want a calculator strapped onto my wrist. I had been searching all over for a watch that could tell my heart rate, yet not embarrass me to wear. I liked the analog style and thought for only 60 bucks whats the harm in giving it a shot? WOW! I am so happy with this watch. I know you read the info and the reviews and people say 'you could wear it with a suit' and you think... 'ya, if you're talking about a buy two suits for $99 at the mens wearhouse kind of suit' I am an armani, zegna, burberry suit wearer and my everyday watch is a rolex. That being said, this thing is pretty nice. I think if you slapped an ORIS in the place of sportline on there you could charge 1200 bucks for it. Can't speak for long term quality as I've only had it a day, but initial quality is absolutely astounding for $60. It may not be the ideal suit watch, but if you absolutely had to know what the annual shareholders meeting does to your heart rate you could get away with wearing it without having to explain or get any funny looks. Oh.. and on the functional side, I have been checking my heart rate all day, on a run, at the gym and it works every time. There is the occasional misread, but less common than the ones on the cardio machines at the gym and I did compare its readings to those and it matches up. I think some people who have trouble with it might not be wearing it tight enough... it doesn't have to cut off your circulation, just a snug fit. If you leave it too loose, the back doesn't contact your arm and it won't read. The only legitimate gripe I've seen is that you can read it in bright sunlight. That is true.. in very bright sunlight you can't see the heart rate... To the people who complained about that, I say go under a tree or shade it with your hand and stop complaining.

Electronic Stethoscope w/ ECG Monitor & pulse oximeter Review

Electronic Stethoscope w/ ECG Monitor and pulse oximeter
Average Reviews:

According to the manual, "the device has a normal useful life for three years since the first electrified use.
Instead of a lanyard for carrying the apparatus, the manual mentions a "hanging rope" which is convenient for "schleping the apparatus. The unit has an "auscultation" mode. And how about "For the particular content of clinic restrict and taboo disease, please read the correlated iatrology literature".
To use the ECG function, you will need some conductive paste. The ECG function worked without the paste by pressing hard but the data hold button was difficult to press.
The pulse oximeter was excellent. Each pulsebeat results in an audible beep, there is a digital readout for beats per minute and oxygen level, and the pulse waveform is displayed.

Sportline 915 Men's Solo Heart Rate Watch Review

Sportline 915 Men's Solo Heart Rate Watch

I purchased Sportline 915 specifically for its ability to provide a heart rate. The watch does that quite well, so well that when the face of the watch is just grazed it goes into heart rate mode, because of the its sensitivity. The only negative is not for the watch, but the little manual that accompanies the device. The manual does not indicate what all the screens do. I had to contact Sportline. They provided the answer in their responds. Age and gender are inputted into the second screen.

Easily measure your intensity level while jogging or working out with the Sportline Solo 915 men's heart rate watch. A big step forward in heart rate watches, the Solo 915 is the first watch in the Solo series to incorporate Any-Touch technology, which responds to a single touch anywhere on the stainless-steel case to deliver accurate ECG heart readings in mere seconds. Even better, the Solo 915 doesn't require an uncomfortable chest belt, nor do you have to stand still to measure your pulse. Want to know your heart rate while powering down the path? No problem. Easy to use, accurate, and responsive, the watch lets you cruise at your own speed with no strings (or anything else) attached. Other details include a built-in stopwatch, 12- and 24-hour time settings, an option for tracking your burned calories, and a large digital backlit display. The Solo 915, which is water-resistant to 50 meters, comes in a sleek black color.
About Heart Rate Training Turns out, your heartbeat is a pretty big deal. It's actually one of the most important indicators of overall wellness, and is one of the most effective elements of any fitness program. Your heart rate not only controls your body but also the efficiency of your exercise. To get the most out of your physical activity--whether it's walking, dancing or aerobics--you need to make sure you are in your target heart rate zone. To determine your target heart rate, first subtract your age from 220. That's your maximum heart rate. Your target heart rate is roughly 50 to 75 percent of this maximum heart rate. To see how your fitness level is progressing over time, measure and track your resting heart rate--usually between 60 and 100 beats per minute--on a weekly basis. As you become more fit, your resting heart rate will decrease.
Your target heart rate generally encompasses three zones. Exercising in the Active Zone (50 to 60 percent of maximum heart rate) reduces blood pressure and cholesterol and is ideal for fitness beginners or those on a low-intensity program. Almost all calories burned in this zone are fat calories. Reaching the Training Zone (60 to 70 percent of maximum heart rate) requires more intense aerobic activity and is perfect for fitness enthusiasts working to burn maximum calories and fat. Finally, exercising in the Endurance Zone (70 to 80 percent of maximum heart rate) is generally recommended for athlete in training. The primary benefits of this zone are cardiovascular strengthening and elevated caloric burn.

Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor Review

Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor
Average Reviews:

Being a person who hasn't ever joined a gym, I never knew stuff like this existed. I was very interested in this item because I've been walking for exercise but wasn't really sure I was reaching my target heart rate consistently.
The monitor, which displays the time as well as your heart rate on a watch, works in conjuction with a gizmo that you strap around yourself, just under your chest. (I will tell you, since I was concerned about this, that it's hardly noticeable once it's in place...it's a 12" or so long piece of plastic with an adjustable elastic strap...not very bulky at all!) The monitor also features a stopwatch and an alarm, so that after you set your minimum & maximum desired heart rates, you can be alerted when you are out of range. The alarm is a "beep-beep" that I can hear over the book on tape I drag along with me. Your heart rate is updated every second or two so you will always know if you need to pick up the pace a bit.
Although I have not yet had to do so, the chest strap has a removable backing, and you apparently can change the battery yourself (this is a big deal, I guess, since some of the more expensive monitors require that you send them to the factory for a battery change). The elastic strap is also completely removable, which makes it very easy to wash (and you will need to if you're exercising!).
The monitor comes packaged in a small, zippered carrying case, and includes an attachment that allows you to place it on a bicycle handlebar.
This does everything I need it to, and I recommend it for anyone who is just getting started in an exercise program.

The Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor is easy to program and a cinch to wear with a ventilated watch band. Knowing your heart rate is important because if you're working out too hard, your activity can actually become counter productive and strain or damage muscles. To achieve an effective workout, no matter what the aerobic activity, you must maintain your heart rate at a proper level for a minimum of 20 minutes. In general, the proper level falls between 65 percent-85 percent of your maximum heart rate. To ensure you don't drop above or below your proper level, the HR-100C is built with an alarm option that indicates low and high heart rates.
Omron includes a chest transmitter belt with the wristwatch-style monitor. This transmitter sends data to the receiver on your wrist at a distance up to 98 feet (30 meters). The HR-100C is built with a backlight function for exercising after nightfall, and it also displays time of day and a daily reminder alarm feature. Also included is a mounting bracket that makes it easy to attach the watch receiver to most treadmills and bicycles and a soft, zippered storage case.
What's in the Box HR-100C hear rate monitor, chest transmitter, mounting bracket, and zippered storage case.

Q&A - Fitness Monitors What is the Bioelectrical Impedance Method? Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) is considered one of the most accurate and accessible methods of screening body fat. Muscles, blood vessels and bones are body tissues having a high water content that conduct electricity easily. Body fat is tissue that has little electric conductivity. The monitor sends an extremely weak electrical current through your body to determine the amount of fat tissue. Theweakelectrical current is not felt while operating the Body Fat Analyzer. The monitoris calculated by a formula thatincludes five factors; electric resistance, height, weight, ageandgender. What is visceral fat? Visceral fat is located around the organs. Too much visceral fat is thought to be closely linked to increased level of fat in the bloodstream, which can lead to common conditions such as high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Sedentary life style causes excess visceral fat, and exercise can reduce it quicker than subcutaneous fat (fat located under skin). What is resting metabolism? Resting metabolism is the energy to maintain vital functions and it counts 60 to 70% of total energy consumption. Knowing your resting metabolism can help your dietplan. If you can increase daily activity while keeping food intake at resting metabolism level, you can lose weight. What is skeletal muscle? Skeletal muscle is muscle attached to the bones that is used to move the body. If you do weight loss without exercise, you may lose skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is important to maintain your resting metabolism as well as your functionality. Monitoring skeletal muscle during weight loss is key to avoid weight rebound in the future.
