(More customer reviews)I ordered 2 bottles of test strips, one arrived in boxed and sealed condition-the other in a taped baggie with no key for the meter. Upon sending an e-mail as to how to proceed to get the order corrected, I'm asked to call a phone number and given their office hours. I call the number and can't get past the machine. I don't have time to screw around with this. I simply write it off as a lost cause and take my business elsewhere.

This product has made it SO EASY to change needles, without having to carry a little plastic baggy full of lancets. The actual device has a depth-guide as well so rookie and seasoned diabetics alike can choose how far they need the lancet to go into their finger. I would recommend this product to anyone (even curious non-diabetics).

(More customer reviews)Prior to stomach surgery in 2004 I had diabetes. The sticks were always the worse. I could relate to the B. B. King commercial as I am a pianist.
I said all that to say this. My cat takes 2 insulin injections daily. I need to check his sugar levels once a week. Only .6 blood is needed and my cat is a good judge of what doesn't hurt. I have the lancets on the smallest pinch and my cat just thinks I'm giving a good and BIG pet, which of course I do as 1 after I get the blood.
It's a great system.

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased this device after reviewing various reviews of blood glucose meters available on the market. I purchased the Accu-Chek Aviva due to it's reasonable cost, recent make, small size, efficiency of use, ability to take blood from places other than the finger, and requirement for only a very small blood sample.
Overall, I am impressed with the device except one important thing. Despite numerous tries I could not draw enough blood from locations on my arm and leg that would meet the unit's minimum blood sample size requirement. I used the longest lancet setting and tried several times but received error messages on all tries with a code that tells you that you haven't used enough blood. This could very well be a problem for many meters but since this is my first, I find this fustrating that I have to go back to the standard finger prick method.

I bought this also because the test strips were more affordable than some of the other units I saw at Wal greens. I bought this and Accu-Chek Roche Aviva 50 Count (Mail Order) from here amazon.com
The unit is easy to use, and the measurements are repeatable. There is a sort of "calibration" you need to perform every time you are opening up a "new pack" of strips. I thought that was a nuisance, but then I can understand why it is required (I think this is common for all meters)
Overall, I should say I am pleased with the purchase.
