(More customer reviews)I was astonished at the difference in price between the local pharmacy and here on amazon! I decided to start checking my glucose periodically because I am pre-diabetic and have a family history. I did a lot of research and chose this brand of meter and lancet because they seemed to be the best and most accurate. There is very little to no pain when using these lancets and I like the fact that I can have these around without fear of anyone getting hurt--since the lancet is always enclosed except when you are using it. It is very unlikely a child would be able to hurt themselves because you have to do two differnt actions to get the lancet to fire. I also keep the setting fairly shallow so I have to press down on my finger to get it to work. The tiny cut heals up almost instantly after I use my meter. Very happy with price and product.

First off, it is a good standard, adjustable auto lancet which works just great and is easy to use. BUT there is more! Lots more! Tired of chasing down those lancets, loading them in one by one and the trying to find a safe way to dispose of them? Forget about it! This device uses a completely self-contained little drum that holds 6 lancets. You load once and then you have 6 shots without reloading! It's a six-shooter! The needles are completely enclosed inside the drum and safe. After use, you'd need a hammer and a very determined 5 year old just to get anywhere near exposing the lancets. Very safe, very secure, very convenient! Very clever design!

A pack of 100 needles would cost around $12 retail at Wally World.
The only thing that concerned me over these was that they were packaged in a zip lock bag. So they weren't "sealed" to ensure they are sterile and that worried me a little bit. But each lancet does have it's own twisty head cap so that helps put me at ease a bit. I gave it four stars for that reason and b/c the caps don't twist off as easily as the more pricier lancets and you sometimes bend the needle trying to get the cap off.
I have a contour meter and it fit it just fine.

However, you need to be careful which lancets you use because if they are longer ones, then despite the adjustment, they hurt. the shorter ones are okay, but still not as easy as the softclix. I'll stay with Accu-check softclix.

It has a very tiny needle on it and I've never gotten a bruise from using it. I use one for about a week and then change it out. They don't seem to become dull very easily, which is nice. So, for me, these will last a good while. I recommend the OneTouch Delica lancing device and lancets.

I said all that to say this. My cat takes 2 insulin injections daily. I need to check his sugar levels once a week. Only .6 blood is needed and my cat is a good judge of what doesn't hurt. I have the lancets on the smallest pinch and my cat just thinks I'm giving a good and BIG pet, which of course I do as 1 after I get the blood.
It's a great system.

Accu-Chek Softclix Lancets - 21 gauge needle The Accu-Chek Softclix lancet are specially designed to be used with the Softclix Lancing Device. Unlike traditional lancets that have a round shaft, the Softclix lancet has a rectangular cross-section and is significantly smaller than other lancets. Softclix lancing device and lancets are easy to use, small, and lightweight and can easily be used by kids of all ages. The Softclix 21-guage needle minimizes discomfort due to unique design for accurate penetration. Use only with Accu-Check Softlix Lancet Device. Sterile. Accu-Chek Softclix Lancet Directions Remove the cap from the lancet device. Insert a new lancet in the lancet holder. It is properly positioned when it snaps into place. To remove the protective cap, twist and pull it away from the lancet. Replace the cap onto the lancet device. Twist the cap of the lancet device to set the lancet depth. Start at 2 or 3. For tougher skin, dial to a higher number. Press the plunger on the end of the device all the way down until it clicks. (More customer reviews)The ads claim "50 percent less pain." That may overstate the case, but these lancets really are more comfortable than any of the several other brands I've tried. The labeling implies that you need to use them with BD's glucose meter, but that's not true. They work just fine with my One Touch Ultra, and I am sure that they will work with other brands as well.
However, the reason that they are more comfortable is that they are thinner, and therefore they do not produce quite as much blood as some meters require. The One Touch only needs 1 microliter of blood, and some other meters need even less. But if you are using a meter that needs a larger sample--say, 2.5 or 3.0 microliters--you might not get enough with the BD 33 lancets. Frankly, however, if your meter requires that much blood, you might want to consider switching to another brand anyway.
