(More customer reviews)Unfortunately there are merchants who show no respect to internet customers. These products have an expiry date of around two years so by purchasing 25ct you estimate that you can do one test once month and you save a few dollars by purchasing this package. This is not the case, as they can ship you a product with an expiry date of 6 months or less. In my case I order it just before Christmas 2007 and I got it in January 2008. To my surprise the expiry date was 2008 06 11, in other words in five months time this product has to be thrown away as the instrument simply will not accept it. Furthermore the temperature of the strip and the tester must be above 20 degrees centigrade (68F), now in winter and considering that is better to carry out the test in the morning before you consume any food, it is almost difficult to carry out the test.
Personally I am very disappointed and I will have my eyes open from now on. I wrote to the supplier but I am not pleased and I do not know if I want to spend any more time with them in further correspondence. I have to admit that I order another 25ct for another test from a different supplier and they send me a package which will expire in June 2009.
At this stage I am not going to reveal the name of the unconscious supplier who is trying to get rid of his old stock by selling to unsuspicious customers who happen to trust Amazon.
Amazon must black list these suppliers if they want to maintain there good fame.
Just be careful and better keep away from 25ct unless you are a professional healthcare user!

(More customer reviews)This is a very good meter. Fast, simple, easy to use, voice is quite clear. Looks like quality construction. Easily replaceable AAA batteries. My old ReliOn was not as good and neither was my AccuCheck II (a much more expensive meter and strips) and this is without the stupid static cling. My newer AccuCheck Aviva is only very slightly better in other categories but it does not have voice and is far more expensive. $15.00 for this quality meter is a great deal, and the strips are a fraction of the AccuCheck. Medicare could save a bundle of money it they only paid for value supplies. But apparently that is not how the American medical system works.

(More customer reviews)The BD Logic Blood Glucose Monitor is itself an O.K. device. The problem comes from the New BD Test Strips (The ones with GoldEtch technology, whatever that means). They are absolutely horrible. I've been a type 1 diabetic for over 16 years and have never used a more frustrating test strip. The capillary action is horrible and as a result they do not fill with blood properly and result in over 50% test error rate (E-3 error). No matter what you do you can't get the strip to fill with blood. For some reason, there is a small area in the reservoir that simply won't fill with blood. I've tried everything from using super large drops of blood to holding the test strip completely vertical. I called customer support and they gave me a bunch of suggestions that didn't help either. I've wasted over 400 test strips in less than three months. This can be very expensive and frustrating as a diabetic that tests my blood sugar 5 times per day. I don't like having to poke my finger four or five times to get one successful blood test without an error. BD is aware of the problem with their test strips, but as of yet has no plans to re-engineer their test stips (As they explained in a letter they mailed me). Additionally, the battery life on the meter is very short. I have to change the battery once a month. I've only had to change the battery in my OneTouch Ultra 1 time in 2 years. Finally, the computer software for the OneTouch Ultra is much more user friendly than the software for the BD Logic. I think the BD Logic has great potential (especially when used in conjuction with the Medtronic Minimed insulin pump), but until they design a better test strip I would recommend that you buy the OneTouch Ultra instead.

If diabetes runs in your family, if you are pre-diabetic, if you have full-blown diabetes and your doctor approves, use THESE Chemsrrip uGK Strips, instead of the much more expensive strips which require needles and meters. I was pre-diabetic for a very long time, and my doctor advised me to use the Chemstrips. (I also used a bathroom scale, to keep track of my weight.) These plastic strips are relatively simple to use, and totally need NO needles or meters. They are similar to Bayer Ketostrips, but seem to last longer and are more immune to light than the Ketostrips, which I have also tried. I would suggest anyone who is even a little overweight buy these strips -- and use them once a week. They give an "early warning" for diabetes without much cost or trouble. It's always better to be safe than sorry -- and in today's world, with SO many people being over-weight, one never can tell. Buy these strips -- and buy a GOOD scale. If you keep weight-loss always in the back of your mind, and use these strips (at least) once a week, you may never get full-blown diabetes. Like aspirin, these Chemstrip uKG strips belong in EVERYONE's medicine cabinet!

(More customer reviews)I've been diabetic for over 10 years and used a variety of glucometers. This has been the best and easiest to use right out of the box. It requires a pindrop sample and gives an accurate result in only 5 seconds.
The display is quite large for those with eyesight difficulties. It comes with a carrying case to hold the meter, a lancet, and a vial of test strips. You don't even have to take the meter out of the case to use it...just unzip the case and pop in a test strip!
It's easy to track pre-and post-meal readings using the up/down arrow and "M" button to mark each result. It can even be set to remind you to re-test post-meal in 2.5 hours!
The meter can be connected to a PC for downloading data (my doctor does this for me to analyze my readings).
It only comes with a few test strips (this is how all glucometers are packaged), so be sure to get extras. If your insurance doens't cover the strips, LOOK AROUND AT AMAZON for boxes of strips. They can be found for almost 50% of the cost at your local Wal-Mart.
