My blood pressure was really high and I wanted to keep an eye on it so my doctor could see patterns with my readings so this was perfect. It wasn't too expensive, easy to use, and had settings for two people. My unit wasn't cracked or broken in anyway and worked right out of the box. I am very pleased with my unit and will continue to use it each and everyday.

After taking my blood pressure, the systolic LCD display does not show up at all. Diastolic and pulse LCD displays only show partial numbers, so I can't read it. Can't vouch for the accuracy of the product because I CAN'T READ THE OUTPUT! Mabis requires me to send them $5 if I send them the product for replacement/repair. Other reviewers with similar complaints indicate lack of response from the company. jeez.

(More customer reviews)I use this unit daily to monitor blood pressure, and I have compared the results to multiple Doctor's (old-fashioned) readings as well as machines in pharmacies and medical offices. It is accurate. Usually it is spot on, within 2-3, and any differences were not statistically significant. This model also has a feature that allows you to average out three readings in a row, which should help offset any inaccurate readings.
As with any blood pressure monitor, you should check it against other monitors when you first get it to make sure you are getting accurate readings. There is a specific technique to using a wrist monitor, whereby you are to hold the arm from which the reading is being taken still with your wrist at heart level. There is a beep indicator that lets you know when you are in the right spot, but it is your job to keep your arm there during the reading - best to hold the elbow of the arm that has the device on it with your other arm.
As to the reviewer that got a defective unit - that is unfortunate - but it should not influence people's buying decisions on this model. There is the potentiality to get a defective unit when you buy any kind of device.
The best thing for me about this unit is that it is extremely portable, and easy to take with you when travelling. Highly recommended.

I've been trying to return it but for some reason Amazon won't let me access the return site. Not sure what that is about. Don't waste your money if you need an accurate blood pressure reading. I think that is an obvious fact. It may be a little harder to use an arm band type but your health is more important. A nurse showed me how to set the arm band and just slide if off to make it easier to use the next time. It's worth the effort.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item for for professional purposes. As a nurse, I want to ensure accuracy, so I felt testing it was necessary prior to relying on it. I also want to make it clear that I will continue to test it's accuracy (similar to calibration) on a regular basis.
I found that it is quite accurate, but only when used properly. As the manual indicates, the key is that the wrist must be held above the heart, and if not the blood pressure reading will drop by approximately 20 mmHg (or points). When the wrist was above the heart, it was quite accurate.
I've used many wrist cuffs over the years and the one thing I've always disliked about any automated cuff (even for the upper arm) is the over inflation, which is often painful and quite annoying. This one is very comfortable and does not over inflate itself.
The readout screen is very large and easy to see, and it is fairly simple to use. The one downfall that I found is that there is no way to turn off the power, or if there is, I've not figured out how and the manual offers no clear instruction on this. That said, it does shut itself off and there is a little badly worded blurb in the manual which perhaps indicates that it shuts off after one minute, and after using it this sounds about right. I don't particularly care for that feature, as this is an additional minute on battery time which I would prefer to save.
All in all this is a good blood pressure cuff and is lightweight, easy to use, accurate as well as inexpensive. That makes for a good buy in my opinion.

I have not yet had a chance to compare the accuracy with another monitor, however I know that about half the time I get a false 'high' reading. I am an EMT monitoring my own blood pressure and some of the false high readings are pretty scarey - until you realize they are false! Even without repositioning the monitor, re-taking another reading is much more accurate. I do recommend this type of monitor for anyone that needs to keep an eye on their BP, especially those who may live alone or be elderly - you can't get much easier than this, just be aware of the false readings and re-test.

Holding my wrist, palm side up, anywhere between my abdomen and chest area seems to work fine. The first wrist BP cuff I bought at a store would not work unless held against my chest over my heart, in exactly the right spot, and then it only worked once. My wrist circumference is 8-1/4 inches, so I was concerned about it fitting, but no worries there. My dentist's office uses 3 different ones and told me this one was their favorite, even though it was the less expensive one. The BP readings are right inline with the dentist and physician office. I would recommend this wrist BP cuff to anyone who must take their own BP due to the ease of use, its accuracy, and the inexpensive price. Plus, I would not hesitate to purchase it from Amazon.com.
