Mabis 04-340-000 Semi-Automatic Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with Memory Review

Mabis 04-340-000 Semi-Automatic Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with Memory

I bought this device to keep track of my wife blood pressure when she was pregnant. It sometimes worked, but you have to be a physician, nurse, or experienced in blood pressure measurements to get the thing to work and take measurements. Otherwise, you just get errors and errors.
The instructions and manual that came with the device is soo not helpfull and barely contain any "instructions". You just have to figure it out yourself. After having used this for about 3 months now, I say get the manually operated blood pressure monitor becuase they are much better and can't go wrong. Avoid the automatic ones becuase they don't always work and would give wrong measurements. The automatic ones may not inflate properly. Any small physiological change or if your arms are larger or really small (petite) can through off the measurements.
If you are not sure or doubt the measurements you get, take several measurements and compare the average. This is a good device to have at home especially if you have an older adult with previous history of high blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension, and/or heart disease. check with your doctor.

Blood Pressure Monitor Review

Blood Pressure Monitor

It's cheap and not accurate. I compared with arm units and never got an accurate reading. I've been trying to return it but for some reason Amazon won't let me access the return site. Not sure what that is about. Don't waste your money if you need an accurate blood pressure reading. I think that is an obvious fact. It may be a little harder to use an arm band type but your health is more important. A nurse showed me how to set the arm band and just slide if off to make it easier to use the next time. It's worth the effort.

I've been using the Microlife Blood Pressure monitor for 5 months now steady. It has been the easiest device to use that I ever bought. I got sick of using the arm-wrap device and decided to give this one a try. Best decision ever. Contrary to the earlier reviewers, I found the software to load easy and fast with no mistakes and I never read any instructions. It is very intuitive. The connecting cable is easy to use and the usb end is perfect for any computer (unless you are using a really old model). I take my BP 2-3 times a day with it, and after a week or 2 I hook it up to my laptop, open the program, set the device on PC-Link, and hit the data transfer button on the program. Presto! It charts and graphs systolic/diastolic and pulse. Couldn't be easier. I changed batteries (2-AAA) after 3-4 months. I set the device to remove the data from device memory after transferring to the laptop. Makes transfer quicker.

WRISTECH WRIST BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR - FDA Approved - AS SEEN ON TV Review

WRISTECH WRIST BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR - FDA Approved - AS SEEN ON TV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased a Wristech JB4630 in January '10. The device arrived promptly, in good order. It is compact, convenient, easy to use, and remarkably inexpensive. However, its readings are disturbing. I made several runs of measurements without changing position of my arm, and with my arm and the device positioned according to the manufacturer's instructions. One such run was 111/63, 114/62, 131/60, 112/61, 105/56, 111/62, and 115/57. Another was 123/70, 130/69, and 130/70. Still another 126/67 and 115/67. Sorry for all the numbers, but they illustrate the problem. The readings usually cluster around a definite value. For instance, in the first set, if you throw out the 'fliers' (105/62 and 131/60) the mean systolic pressure is 112.6 and the maximum deviation is 2.4 -- quite good. But what about those fliers? There is no way to decide ahead of time whether a result is valid or not. The only solution with this product appears to be to take at least three measurements separated by a minimum of 15 seconds without moving your arm. Then throw out any obvious flier and average the remainders. If possible take the product to the doctors office and compare it with reading taking using the traditional stethoscope/sphygmomanometer (ausculatory) measurement. This device uses an oscillometric method that depends on a software algorithm. Such algorithms are not always accurate for all people under all conditions. For instance, if you suffer any type of arrythmia, they can give erroneous readings.
With proper care, this instrument can be useful, but should not be trusted for more than a casual indication of what your BP may be.

Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor Review

Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor

Posted for friend: Being a Dialysis patient I must monitor my blood pressure. I have a top rated Blood Pressure Monitor that I use at home but was looking for something to take on the road. Easy use but accurate. When I first used this unit it gave me a very low reading and then a very high reading. I had others try it and it did the same thing. I then sat down and followed instructions to the letter and received a very close reading in comparison to my high end calibrated cuff. I had others sit and use the calibrated cuff and then this wrist monitor. They received almost exact numbers on both 122/80 on cuff and 120/78 on wrist a few min. later. I then used the same testing method of calibrated cuff and a few min. later the wristech following instructions to the letter this time and it worked great. Others who followed the instructions to the letter found the same results. I don't know if the unit must be used 5-10 times as a break in period or what caused the crazy readings in the beginning for everyone but it works fine now. This is the only reason I took the time to write review, give the wristech a chance by testing 20 times and then follow instructions to the letter and compare to calibrated cuff. I think for the money you should be very happy if yours works like mine does now.
I am in no way connected to Amazon or wristech. I only wanted to make sure others understood the break in experience I had and now unit works fine.
Good Luck!

Omron HEM-650 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with APS (Advanced Positioning Sensor) Review

Omron HEM-650 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with APS (Advanced Positioning Sensor)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for a device that would be easy for my 88 year-old mother to use on her own. She was told to monitor her blood pressure, but can't use the public style because they are set to test the left arm. Because of prior surgery, her left arm can't be used. So, when looking for the wrist type, this monitor had all the qualities I was looking for. When we received it and showed Mom how to use it, she found it easy to use and easy to read because the screen uses large print. She doesn't have to write anything down. She takes it to her doctor and he can read back through the last 90 days (one reading per day). Because she has an occasional problem with ventricular tachycardia, the monitor also lets her know if the heart is beating irregularly with a simple picture. The cuff beeps when you have it positioned properly for inflation. This isn't a function that is useful for Mom, because she is hard of hearing. But, fortunately, the beep isn't really necessary because positioning is easy for everyone--fingertips on your shoulder. I have recommended this monitor to everyone. I am a dental hygienist and frequently have to monitor blood pressure readings on my patients. I bought one for use at my office. It is quite accurate according to my patients. So I've found nothing negative about this product.

Wrist blood pressure monitors are portable, accurate and simple to use. They provide a convenient choice for those who want a second unit for away from home or who have trouble placing a cuff on their arm. The Omron HEM-650 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with APS (Advanced Positioning Sensor) uses Omron's patented IntelliSense technology, which inflates the wrist cuff to the ideal level with each use and offers fast, personalized, and automatic inflation for maximum comfort. No adjustments are required to select an inflation level--especially convenient for hypertensive users and for people with certain arrhythmia or heart disorders, because their blood pressure is more likely to fluctuate. And with the HEM-650's 90-memory recall with date and time stamp, as well as averaging capabilities for the last three readings, you can track your blood pressure and pulse progress as your work towards a healthier lifestyle. The HEM-650 also features a system that detects an irregular heartbeat, giving you an even better understanding of your heart's health. Plus, you'll have additional peace of mind knowing that the HEM-650 comes with a 5-year warranty.
Because the HEM-650 has a wrist cuff, it is particularly helpful if you have a larger than average sized arm. The monitor fits those with a wrist size of 5.25 to 8.5 inches, and it ensures easier and more comfortable use. Note, however, that a wrist monitor does require proper positioning of the device at the heart level. Correct cuff positioning is critical when monitoring blood pressure, fortunately, the HEM-650 features an advanced positioning sensor that automatically confirms that the cuff is level with the user's heart, thereby ensuring an accurate reading.
It is critical that when using a blood pressure monitor the cuff is the appropriate size and is properly applied. An ill-fitting cuff or an incorrectly-applied cuff can result in inaccurate readings. Consult your doctor or the included instructions for the proper application of the cuff.
