(More customer reviews)I have had hypertension for most of my adult life. I have taken prescription drugs for the problem for most of that time as well. About two years ago my doctor helped convince me to start taking better care of myself and to lose weight and exercise more. Oh, he has been telling me that for years, but his heart was truly never in it in my opinion. His strongest point in convincing me came when he finally insisted on seeing me every 6 months for a blood pressure "check", in order for me to continue getting the same med's that I had been taking successfully for over 25 years. Not really wanting to be part of his vast entourage on such a schedule that keeps him enjoying a life of lobster and cracked crab, I decided to start exercising more, eating better, and trying some new supplements that studies have shown to be of benefit for high blood pressure.
I came across quite a few articles about research into Lycomato as an antitoxin, as well as a benefit for high blood pressure. Lycomato, a complex containing the root benefit Lycopene, the major carotenoid found in the tomato, and that which gives the tomato its typical red color, is an important antioxidant with a unique ability to inactivate or "quench" free radicals that can damage our cells. The research and studies on its many advantages are easy to find on the web and most impressive indeed. However I decided to try it strickily for the benefit it offers as a possible blood pressure reducer. Although I have been exercising now for some time, and still taking my regular med's, I feel I can gauge pretty well the benefit of the Lycomato singularly for it is my latest and only addition to my regiment. I bought this very same brand on another online site that was a little cheaper than Amazon (by a couple of bucks only), and are on my third month with it. As far as my calculations are concerned, this Lycomato is definitely having a positive effect on my BP. I decided to take a reading about 3 times a week at different times of the day for a more accurate measurement after starting it. And then compared it to the average I was getting before. As far as I can figure, the Lycomato has lowered my diastolic number, (the lower one) by an average of 5 to 7 points. (I don't pay much attention to the high one, it fluctuates a lot, and is not as important). Not at all bad for a regiment only 3 months old. This average of a 6 point drop has has been very consistent. And since the price of this supplement is very reasonable, I will be continuing to take it. Trust me when I tell you that I have tried lot of other supplements that didn't seem to have any effect at all, never mind a 6 point average. This Lycomato is as safe to take as eating tomatoes, and I have noticed no side affects with it whatsoever. I am going to continue a regimen with it. And if you suffer from hypertension and either wish to supplement your prescription drugs, or handle it entirely naturally, I highly recommend Lycomato. You may not have the same success as I did with it, but you have nothing to lose in my opinion. You may even fair better. (More customer reviews)I've used the MF-81 for a few months and I've found it to be very accurate, reliable and, for the most part, easy to use. I haven't been able to test it against a doctor's office mercury cuff (considered the most accurate), but it was tested against another cuff that was tested as accurate and it was pretty much right on the money.
Positives: Accurate, compact, inexpensive (other cuffs with the same features typically cost more), fits both small and large wrists, remembers last 60 readings and gives average.
Negatives: To find out the average of the last 60 readings requires hitting the "memory" button up to 60 times. I lost my instruction booklet so maybe there's a faster way. If not, this is an inconvenience. The battery warning symbol is also rather unreliable. Mine has given a low battery warning for a month and I've used it between 50 and 100 times without a problem.
For the most part this is real bargain. I needed an accurate wrist cuff and I didn't want to spend a lot of money so it's perfect in that sense. If you require getting an average reading without much fuss then you might want to pay more for an easier to use model.

I've had no problems with the size of the cuff as others have experienced.I have had a problem with ambient temperature reading about 4-5º higher than my indoor thermometer reads. Also, after having my blood pressure checked in my doctor's office, I used the Mabis and got a reading of 76 distolic compared with the 62 the nurse got. I have, on occasion, had the cuff inflate a second time without my prompting it to do so resulting in a atypical reading. I will be sending the unit back to the manufacturer to fix these problems.

My wife is a nurse so she brought home the real BP cuff and stethoscope from her office. We compared the HoMedic's numbers against her readings and found this model the BPA -100 was 12-20 point higher on the both the top and bottom numbers. Went to the manufactures website for support and found the bare minimal of information.

(More customer reviews)There are lots of blood pressure cuffs for home monitoring that are out there. This one is the HEM-711DLX and is exactly in the middle of the Omron line up for over-the-arm blood pressure cuffs. Over the arm blood pressure cuffs are considered to be more accurate than wrist cuffs or finger cuffs. They are also less expensive than the wrist or finger cuffs in most cases.
The unit is easy to use and is straight forward to operate. It is easy to apply the cuff and all you do is press a button. The blood pressure correlates well with manual readings and my doctor's readings. Once you set the time, date, and year the memory feature is helpful so that you don't have to record all of your readings to paper or your computer at once. The cuff remembers the last 60 readings with a time and date stamp.
There may be other companies that produce quality cuffs, but Omron has always worked well for me. I have been impressed with the accuracy and the reliability of these cuffs. The company produces other cuffs, but I felt that this one hit the sweet spot for features and price.
The other Omron cuffs are as follows:
1. Omron HEM-432 Manual Blood Pressure Monitor
2. Omron HEM-712C Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with IntelliSense
3. Omron HEM-780 Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with ComFit Cuff
4. Omron Ultra Premium Digital Blood Pressure Monitor
All of these cuffs are easy to use, accurate, and reasonable options. After trialing most of them, I felt that the HEM 711-DLX offered reasonable features at a reasonable price and made the most sense.
The lowest priced model (HEM-432) was just as accurate, but required manual inflation and had a more difficult to apply blood pressure cuff. Manually inflating the cuff was at best an annoyance and resulted in errors from under inflation. The low line model also had a cuff that was a little harder to apply with one hand, the HEM 711-DLX has one that has a contoured side that made it easy to place and velcro the cuff in place.
The second lowest priced model (HEM-712C) worked well, but for about 10 dollars more, I was able to get a model with the easier to apply cuff and increase the warranty from 2 to 5 years. I felt this was worth it, but the HEM 712C is still an accurate and worthy model.
I didn't see an advantage to the HEM-780. It does have the 'TruRead' feature, whereby the blood pressure cuff takes three consecutive readings over three minutes and averages them. It also has a larger memory and can record blood pressures for two users. I didn't think that these added much for me. If my wife wanted to have the unit record her pressures too, I might have gone for it.
As to the HEM-790IT, Ultra Premium model, I didn't feel that I needed to download my blood pressures to a computer. If you like this kind of feature (which sounds kind of neat), this cuff is for you. I transcribe the blood pressures to my computer manually, so this was not a big selling point for me.

(More customer reviews)This product consistently read my diastolic reading approximately 30 mm too low, although it was very consistent, always giving about the same reading. I took it to my Dr's office and checked it against their readings. The systolic was about right, but the diastolic was 30 low. Several readings were taken to confirm this. I have carefully read the instructions for cuff placement and could find nothing wrong with the way I was using the product.
I gave this 2 rather than 1 stars since it was consistently giving the same reading. Maybe this particular unit was bad and others might do better. I think I'm going to give up an digital measurement and go with a completely manual product where you use a stethoscope.

I'm not old but it's helpful to have things so simple! It comes with two cuffs too so in case you need a larger size it's already included.
The price is fair and all the features make it better than anything else I researched.
