I fell in love with a classmates Riester but was put off by the $100 price tag! This was almost 1/2 so thanks for giving me a great product at a great price! I wish I had been aware of this product before purchasing my first blood pressure cuff set. It is so much easier to manage that I would gladly have spent more money initially!

Reister's ri-san aneroid sphygmomanometer features an easy to use and ergonomic design. The air release valve is operated by a simple finger-tip control. (More customer reviews)I've had mine for about 3-4 years. You can pick up murmurs and crackles very easily with this model. Recently, I tried using my former stethoscope on patients (Sprague Rappaport), and WHOA!! I could barely hear anything!! (I had gotten spoiled by my Cards-III for the last few years without even knowing it!) Years ago, I was wondering how my classmates and residents (all of whom seemed to have the Cards-III) could hear murmurs and stuff, and I couldn't! As a resident now, I'm glad I own one. One day, I forgot my own Cards-III, and had to borrow a colleague's stethoscope (it was a Classic II SE). Even though her Classic II SE was also a Littman, I still couldn't hear as clearly through that, as I did the Cards-III.
On the downside, it is rather pricey. But I equate it to buying a good pair of glasses. In exchange for your money, you'll be able to hear a lot more.

The price is reasonable and I find it unnecessary to pay more for a different model. The Classic II works well and is light weight. I also like the long enough tubing so that I can hear breath sounds at a comfortable distance for both me and my patients. The pink for breast cancer research is an added plus for me. I've had a black Littmann for such a long time.

I found that this product is very easy to use - both the stethoscope and cuff are user friendly and of good quality. In fact, this is the same model we were using in school to practice taking measurements. I would recommend this for a beginner and for someone who needs to take readings often. In addition, the stethoscope ear pieces are very comfortable (have had a problem with discomfort in the past). Both the cuff and stethoscope fit in the included case, nicely and is portable. Great item, great price.

I've tried all the other ones, but I have to say that I'm sold on this model.
It's lightweight, easy to handle and store in a pocket. The sound is just what I need too. And it comes in a number of colors so you can sort of stand out. The price is right too.
Definitely a keeper and will continue to buy more of this model as others probably will go 'missing'.

(More customer reviews)This is a good all-around stethescope for nursing use. It's lightweight, has comfortable earpieces, and the sound is clear and easy to hear. Cheaper scopes are certainly available, but you'll be using this for years -- and this one certainly holds up for years...my sister has been using hers since 1986.
I bought my Littman Classic II on my sister's advice (yep, also a nurse) when I started nursing school clinicals in 1999 -- it was so much lighter than the Sprague I'd been using...and frankly, anything that saved me a little stress during the ordeal of nursing school was well worth it.
When my daughter started nursing school last fall, and complained to me that she was having trouble hearing BPs and lung sounds with the school supplied scopes, I bought this same scope for her. She LOVES it and her fellow students are envious.
My brother will be starting nursing school next year, and I think this will make a marvelous gift for him as well.

3M Littmann Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope Review

(More customer reviews)Although most current medical students, residents, and cardiologists are aware that the Cardiology III stethoscope by Littmann is in vogue, I decided that the price tag attached to one of those stethoscopes was outrageously astronomical and decided to purchase this stethoscope instead. As the name implies, it is lightweight, and the acoustics are impressive. I don't believe that the cardiology III, which I have used, offers anything more that is usable in terms of acoustic data, unless you have very sensitive ears and/or are a cardiology fellow/attending. Remember that medicine is definitely not about who has the fanciest or most expensive tools, but about caring and thinking.
I also recommend this specific color; I ordered it thinking that no one else would have this color. I was crestfallen to find that it is a popular choice among nurses, who also choose this color thinking that it's not popular, and therefore a less likely candidate for theft/long-long term borrowing. However, I have grown attached to the color; it's easy on the eyes, and the computer monitor doesn't reflect the true color. It's a little darker.
