Other than the batteries' demise, this unit has been quite usefull. The clip is stronger than my previous model; and testing with a 1 mile tracks shows the unit is off about 2.5%, which is not bad.
While a little sparse on features, it gives you what you basically need; # of steps; distance; # of calories expended. If you are looking for basic, good value, this could be your winner.

I can tell what foods really work and what foods really need to be avoided. I just put it into my mouth for a second or two and check. I know websites say you need a blood test or such to be 100% accurate on one's ph but this little gauge does a good job from a day to day level in giving me a good idea how good I am doing or how poorly I am doing. If I eat something strong in corn syrup sweetener (example pumpkin pie or some fruit juices) my number the next day or later that evening has dropped. This is an excellent way to help anyone realize how they are doing with the alkaline diet or how badly they are acid. Cancer cannot live in an alkaline body so I am really interested in making sure I keep a strong alkaline body with my veggies, fruit, and beans--the natural diet. The processed diet of packaged "foods", high processed juices, and strong corn based diets is a one way ticket to the acid body and acid reflux problems and a future life heading toward cancer, the end product of an acid diet. So I will continue to buy these strips. I'm always elated to see my numbers in the 8 and higher colors; those cultures with alkaline water as a lifestyle have body ph's of 8+ and have no cancer and live healthy lifestyles well into their 90's disease free. So that is my goal. This summer marks my first year of being strong alkaline and my body behaves so much different than other years of my life. It is an amazing difference from the high acid diet I used to life on. These strips have made it very clear what works and what doesn't and cued me when I didn't eat right and what the price tag was or would be eventually. The differences in how my body works and behaves now is incredible for the diet changes made.

I lost 60 pounds but also dieted vigorously and exercised regularly at the gym on the treadmill for 35 minutes. Oily discharge sometimes? you bet, but only when I ate meals with a high fat content. Couple bits of advice: if you feel like you need to fart, don't. You can't be sure of what will come out. Restrain yourself until you get to a toilet, just in case. Also, not only fried chicken and fried food have fat. Any kind of red meat has fat content. Rule of thumb for me is if calories from fat are high, I take a pill with the meal. This product is a lifesaver but it only works with diet and exercise.

(More customer reviews)I am writing to correct the reviewer saying that this product is Alpha lipoic acid and Biotin. It is not Alpha lipoic acid. ALA is a cheap mixture of natural and synthetic lipoic acids. Insulow is pure natural R+ lipoic acid. Not ALA or Krala or any of the other cheap inventions of the supplement industry. R+ ALA is now sold by BASF in Germany for diabetics as a drug to manage blood sugar and neuropathy. BASF's costs 4 times as much as Insulow and is not even available in the US. Luckily the FDA classifies R+ ALA as a supplement and not a drug.
There is a study from the Univ of Toronto showing that this ingredient is more effective than the 4 leading drugs used for glucose uptake enhancement in diabetics. That study is on the American Diabetes Association website. Insulow is not the same as ALA and biotin by any means.

(More customer reviews)I think this is an excellent pedometer -- it does the job well and accurately. It counts your steps whether it is clipped on, in your pocket or in a purse. The auto-reset to zero at midnight helps keep you honest. Like the software - a couple of clicks and your data is automatically uploaded. It shows your results on a daily, weekly, monthly,and annual basis. Omron is the only company I have seen that provides you with software.
I think the manual that comes with the device could be slightly improved but here are some tips that may help you with setting it up and using it for the first time:
(1) With the back cover off, make note of the serial number. It is engraved into the case in tiny letters near the bottom. It is a six character mix of letters and numbers. You'll need this for registration later.
(2) Before starting to configure your pedometer, you will need to calculate the length of your stride. Pick a starting point and walk 10 regular steps. Measure the distance in inches and divide by 10. Make a note of the result to use later.

(3) In the software, I suggest setting modest "daily goals" to start. Adjust your goals up or down anytime through the software's Options menu as you get use to the pedometer.
(4) The "Set" button on the front is smaller than the others and is intended to be used occasionally to reset the time, your weight, etc. as needed - it does not reset or delete your step data. As a good practice, upload your pedometer data regularly as a backup. In the unlikely event that the "Set" button is accidently pressed , just press "Set" another 4 or 5 times and you'll come back to your normal "step" screen.
(5) Step count - this pedometer shows total steps (both aerobic and regular steps)in the "step" count screen. To see only the aerobic steps accomplished for the day, go to the next screen. It keeps a separate count for aerobic steps (60 steps or more per minute continuously for 10 minutes or longer).
(6) While you can view the last 7 days of step data on the device itself, it actually holds up to 42 days in memory. All data is viewable once uploaded to your pc.

For example, the lancet's spring is only good for one use. I was fooling around with mine and caused it to pop out, and then I had no choice but just to disassemble it and then manually shove the lancet into my finger.

(More customer reviews)I have been using blood pressure monitors for over 12 years and compared to others I have been using this one is FAR better.... here is why: (1) The construction quality is excellent... beautifully made (2) It is extremely quiet, almost in-audible compared to others I have used (3) The cuff design is unusual and a huge improvement over the conventional cuff design on other units... this one has a flexible shaped insert inside the inflatable cuff that forms a "tube" shape that makes the cuff very easy to slide over your arm and to easily wrap the Velcro to hold it in place. I eventually learned that I could leave the Velcro "closed" and simply slide the cuff off after use and easily slide it back on for a new measurement without opening the Velcro.(4) Yes, is is made in China BUT in a PANASONIC factory. (5) I have not yet compared the readings to those in my doctors office but likely it will be very close since it is ~ same as the older very noisy one I have been using that does closely match the doctors measurements.
